Voltage Divider Calculator

What is Voltage Divider?

Given voltage Vin as the input voltage; running Vin through resistors in series the output of the voltage between two resistor will drop by the radio of the resistors.

Let's see an example:

Vin = 9V

R1 = 1000 Ω

R2 = 1000 Ω

Rt= R1 + R2 => Rt = 2000 Ω

Using the formula for voltage divider:

Vout = (R / Rt) * Vin

We Get (lets take as example R1):

Vout = (1000Ω / 2000Ω) * 9V

This results in Vout = 4.5V
